If we are committing to MVMT, how does this change my giving to missions, the general fund, and other special offerings?

During this two-year period (April 2019 - April 2021), every gift you bring to God through Declaration Church is a contribution to The MVMT Initiative. Through the“One Fund” approach we are taking, all ministry initiatives and all money supporting those initiatives will be included in the MVMT.

What are you asking me to do?

First and foremost, we want you to go before the Lord and ask Him the question, “Are you really before all things in my life, or have somethings crept into the spot that is rightfully yours?” Then respond to His leading. We want 100% of those who call Declaration Church home to engage by making a commitment to this initiative. That means regardless of your socio-economic status, we want everyone to respond in their generosity in a way that shows that God is before all things in your life. See the Generosity Journey in the MVMT Book for help. Mark your calendar for Commitment weekend on April 14, 2019 and be ready to make your commitment.

Are there additional ways besides cash that I can give more towards The MVMT Initiative?

Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give to MVMT. You can donate stock, property or other valuable items. You may have stored resources (investment accounts, large bank accounts, etc.) that God has blessed you with that He may be calling you to give out of during this time. To donate shares of stock, please call our office at 281.661.4279 or email hello@declaration.org for information.

How long is my commitment?

We are asking that everyone make a two-year commitment. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin on our First Give Weekend—May 5, 2019—and it will culminate in April 2021.

What if I don’t have a job right now? What does that mean for my MVMT commitment?

The MVMT Initiative is about your total, radical, sacrificial generosity to God’s mission at Declaration Church. We believe that God calls us to action in times of hardship just as much as He does in times of abundance, and that looks different for every person. MVMT is about a heart change—one that is only accomplished by surrendering our lives completely over to God in this area of giving. That may mean that you are being challenged to sell things, to pick up odd jobs, or even to trust God in faith by making a commitment that you don’t quite know how to fulfill right now, but that you believe God will provide for as you seek ways to sacrifice and work towards that commitment. Our goal is that 100% of those who call Declaration Church home to make a commitment.

What if I am in debt right now? Am I still supposed to give?

If you are currently making payments toward debt, we commend you for making progress toward financial freedom. We would be honored to help you on this journey by recommending budgeting tools and resources if that is helpful to you. Being in debt does not, however, excuse us from bringing our first and best to God. Generosity back to God is not about what God wants from you, but what He wants for you. Often, our small groups at Declaration will offer a Financial Peace study to assist your family in getting on the road to financial freedom. We believe your freedom is God’s will and we’d be honored to help you find freedom in your finances and stewardship.

What if I have never given to Declaration Church before?

The MVMT Initiative was crafted specifically with you in mind. MVMT is a “One Fund” generosity initiative, meaning that it is different from a traditional capital campaign where you are asked to give an extra gift above and beyond your normal giving. The MVMT Initiative is a call to sacrificial, gospel-centered generosity for absolutely everyone at Declaration. If you have never given before, this is your chance to get in the game with a committed sacrifice. We really hope you will.

What if I am new around here?

The MVMT Initiative is about the vision for our church. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give towards, and we would love for you to make Declaration Church your home and join us in MVMT. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make this your church. We need you on the team, and we would be honored to be your church family!
